More than a decade after Target opened its first DC location in Columbia Heights, four additional outposts of the retail outlet are in the pipeline. Below, UrbanTurf takes a look at where those new locations are headed.

After plans for a 215-unit, Harris Teeter-anchored development fell victim to appeal-related delays, Douglas Development signed Target on to bring a small-format location to Georgia and Eastern Avenues NW (map). The 30,000 square-foot store is expected to open in April.

News broke last week that Target had signed a lease to occupy the former Best Buy space above the Tenleytown Metro station at 4500 Wisconsin Avenue NW (map). The 46,000 square-foot location is expected to open next year.

Over in the historic Sam’s Park and Shop shopping center at Connecticut Avenue and Porter Street NW (map), Target is opening a 24,700 square-foot outpost, partially replacing a Petco. This location will include a CVS pharmacy and is also expected to open in April.

Douglas Development is also on track to bring a Target-anchored retail project to the nearly two-acre site at 16th Street and New York Avenue NE (map). Target will take up 67,106 square feet of ground-floor space and will be surrounded by up to four additional retailers. The location, expected to open next fall, will sell beer and wine and will also have both a Starbucks and a CVS pharmacy.
