The 5 DC Neighborhoods With Less Than a Month's Supply of Homes For Sale

This spring, there will be a number of questions about the DC housing market that will determine its trajectory. Will rising prices dampen buyer demand? Will the market swing back in favor of buyers, as a result? And has the city's long-running inventory shortage finally come to an end?

Today, we address (a part) of the last question by looking at the five neighborhoods across DC where the inventory of homes for sale still hovers around a month or less.

In February, the markets in Anacostia and Congress Heights had less than a month’s supply of homes for sale. What that means is that if no new listings came on the market, at current demand levels, the inventory of homes for sale would be zero in a month’s time.

In AU Park, Chevy Chase DC and LeDroit Park, the market shortage is much more acute. In these areas, there is a two- to three-week supply of homes for sale. To put that in more tangible terms, there are three homes currently for sale in AU Park.

There are plenty more neighborhoods in DC with a low inventory of homes for sale and despite a jump in inventory over the last year, the citywide supply still remains below two months.
