Rendering for one of the live-work concepts
In July, we reported that local developer JAIR LYNCH had launched a campaign to explain the potential of its live-work units at SOLEA, a 59-unit condominium project at 14th Street and Florida Avenue NW. The contest asked for submissions to determine the best use of a 1,600-square-foot unit with ground-level retail space facing Florida Avenue.
JAIR LYNCH not only asked for ideas from the public, it also asked them to vote for the best of those ideas. The contest, which ran online at Define Live-Work until July 31, yielded a wide variety of ideas – everything from a food bank to a youth writing center to a cereal bar. However, the overarching theme of many (including the winning entry) focused on the need for a “creative work space” for entrepreneurs.
Next Thursday, August 27th, the developers will celebrate the opening of the space with free cocktails in one of SOLEA's loft units. The winning design concept will be staged by local designer Fabian Bernal, and the winner will be given a cash prize. There will also be an innovative art installation on display. For more details, see below. Come check it out!
