Six years after a four-alarm blaze destroyed it, Capitol Hill institution Frager’s Hardware is reopening today.
The hardware store and garden center are part of the Penn 11 condo development at the original Frager's location at 1101-1117 Pennsylvania Avenue SE (map). Since the fire, the store has been operating in a space a couple of blocks away on E Street. Frager's has a 25-year lease at the location.

Designed by Hickok Cole Architects, Penn 11 will also house a new restaurant from Kevin Tien, executive chef/co-owner of DC's much-lauded Himitsu.
Frager's celebrates its centennial next year.
