DC Area Apartment Rents Fall In October, But Up Year Over Year

A new report finds that apartment rents fell in October in the DC area, but are still up since last year.
Rents in the region fell 0.4% in October, according to a new report from ApartmentList, but increased 1.5% compared to a year ago.

"Washington, DC rents went down 0.4% in the past month, compared to the national rate of -0.7%," the report stated. "Among the nation's 100 largest cities, this ranks #34 with similar [trajectory] to San Francisco, CA (-0.4%) and Garland, TX (-0.5%)."
The median rent in the region is $2,191/month for a one-bedroom apartment and $2,249 for a two-bedroom, according to the report.
