Best New Listings: Kalorama Kitchens, 14th Street Porches, and Capitol Hill Victorians
In this week’s edition of Best New Listings, UrbanTurf looks at a Kalorama two-bedroom in a historic building, a colonial in 16th Street Heights with many porches, and a Capitol Hill victorian close to Union Station.

Kalorama Two-Bedroom in a 1911 Building
This Kalorama condo spreads out over 1,224 square feet. A couple renovations have opened it up just a bit, and renovations including installation of a chef’s kitchen in 2010 and a new bathroom in 2006 add to its appeal. Lastly, unlike many two-bedrooms out on the market, both bedrooms in this unit do not compromise on square footage.

Porches Galore in 16th Street Heights
While the front porch of this seven-bedroom in 16th Street Heights is inviting, we were most drawn to the back of the listing, which has a house-width porch on the first floor and a private covered balcony on the second story. There is also a yard that leads to a pitched-roof garage, a patio, a grassy area and a mature shade tree. Inside, the rooms are stately and cozy, with wooden trim and angled ceilings in the bedrooms.
- Full listing: 4909 14th Street NW (map)
- Price: $799,000
- Bedrooms: Seven
- Bathrooms: Four
- Year Built: 1913

Capitol Hill Victorian Near Union Station
Located on the eastern side of Capitol Hill, this Victorian sits just above Stanton Park, a few minutes from Eastern Market and Union Station. The interior is well maintained, with historical details, pretty woodworking on the staircase, a fireplace in the living room, and a tin ceiling in the dining room. Our favorite room, however, was the bedroom seen above, with its exposed brick and wall of bay windows.
- Full listing: 402 4th Street NE (map)
- Price: $699,900
- Bedrooms: Three
- Bathrooms: 1.5
