This week, Above Asking will revisit two of the listings UrbanTurf previously featured, both of which sold for well above their asking prices.


The Bonus Indoor and Outdoor Space Premium

Not only did this Takoma Craftsman cottage find a buyer after only four days on the market, it also commanded a premium of $61,000 above its list price. While the house has a petite appearance, its lot is large and includes features like a detached garage, a spacious porch at the rear, an attic and an unfinished basement, the latter providing an easy option to expand the house in the future. The interior also has amply-sized and sunlight-filled living areas with wide-arched doorways and original hardwood flooring.

However, passing through the interior and to the rear of the house offers a much more contemporary aesthetic. The modern, rectilinear appearance peaks in the backyard, where a lawn runway is surrounded by a flagstone patio with horizontal wood-planked benches and fencing on either side.
