Saudi Arabia has plans for the most ambitious building project ever conceived.

The Wall Street Journal reported this weekend that at the direction of Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, urban planners have designed a two-building skyscraper project that would reach heights of 1,600 feet and run for 75 miles across the country. The crown prince conceived the Mirror Line development "to diversify the kingdom’s economy from its reliance on oil" per The Wall Street Journal.

Some of the details of Mirror Lane, which estimates say would take 50 years to build, are truly hard to believe. UrbanTurf highlights some of the more interesting details below:

  • Construction cost estimates rise as high as $1 trillion.
  • Estimates are that up to five million people could live in Mirror Lane.
  • A high-speed train would run underneath the buildings.
  • A sports stadium with a marina for yachts would be built into the development.

UrbanTurf will obviously stay up to date on progress surrounding this mammoth endeavor.
