Zillow just released its Consumer Housing Trends Report for 2024 that provides a snapshot of what housing consumers are thinking and doing this year.

Below, UrbanTurf pulls out some of the more interesting stats pertaining to U.S. home sellers in 2024:
- 47 — The average age of home sellers, up slightly from last year.
- 30% — The share of home sellers aged 60 or older.
- 46% — The percentage of sellers who had household incomes above $100,000, down from 49% last year.
- 66% -- The percentage of sellers that considered renting out their home instead of selling.
- 41% — The percentage of sellers who reported receiving three or more offers on their homes.
- 63% -- The percentage of sellers who reported receiving at least one cash offer.
- 3 — The number of bedrooms in the home sold by the median seller.
- 54% — The percentage of sellers who listed their home due to a change in household composition.
- 45% — The percentage of sellers who listed because of a new job or job transfer.
Zillow surveyed over 6,200 sellers between April and July 2024.
