For those in the DC area that have always wanted to enter the wine business, here is your chance.

Athena Vineyards and Winery about 100 miles from DC on Virginia’s Northern Neck will hit the auction block on April 21. The property is comprised of four parcels on 39 acres, and includes 14 acres of mature vineyards, a winery building, an 1,120 square-foot tasting room, a 1,500 square-foot barrel room and a 900 square foot workshop.

The vineyard is comprised of 9,000 vines of varietals including Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Pinot Grigio and Sauvignon Blanc. Athena’s equipment, wine formulas and online branding convey with the vineyard sale.

Athena was started in 2002 by three retired nurses. The owners are parting with the business as they have decided to retire again.
