Home prices have been rising for years in the DC region, but, as UrbanTurf has reported, only started to skyrocket in 2021.

Using the median sales price for zip codes, we highlighted the areas in the region where prices have appreciated the most in 2021. So far this year, homes in five zip codes have seen prices rise at least 25% compared to 2020.

  • 20814 -- The Maryland zip code that includes downtown Bethesda and the areas just to the north.
  • 20817 -- The Bethesda zip code just adjacent to 20814.

Rounding out the top five are two DC zip codes where home prices appreciated 25% -- 20015, home to Chevy Chase DC, Barnaby Woods and Friendship Heights; and 20037, home to West End and Foggy Bottom.
