Today, UrbanTurf is looking at the biggest home sales in the DC area this year, which includes a listing that was the most expensive home to sell in the DC region in a number of years.

All Cash, $27.5 Million
A home in McLean recently sold for the highest price on any residential listing in the entire Mid-Atlantic region since the Dan Snyder era.
The nearly 22,000 square-foot, six-bedroom home was purchased last month by the United Arab Emirates for $27,508,500, a discount from the original asking price of $29,990,000 when it hit the market in July 2024. Daniel Heider of TTR Sotheby's International Realty was the home's listing agent and Tammarra Peacock of Pearson Smith Realty represented the buyer.
The home features a great room with 28-foot ceilings and a lower level meant for entertaining, complete with a cinema, a glass enclosed wine cellar, and over 3,000 square feet of recreation space. The house also has a gym with a dry sauna and steam room, as well as a large outdoor pool with a waterfall and two fire pits.
The property is the most expensive listing to sell in the Mid-Atlantic since former Washington Commanders owner Dan Snyder purchased a Mount Vernon estate for $48 million in 2021.

Zuck's $23 Million DC Pad
Mark Zuckerberg is the buyer of the second most expensive home sold in the DC area this year.
The Facebook founder purchased a home in Massachusetts Avenue Heights near Embassy Row in early March for $23 million in an all-cash transaction.
Details are pretty scant about the home, but we know it was designed by local architect Robert Gurney and that it is comprised of three structures and has a swimming pool.
The listing is located not far from the DC residence for PayPal founder Peter Thiel and joins a number of high-priced listings to have sold in this tony area in recent years.

Nearly $18 Million In McLean
A 14,000 square-foot listing in the Langley Farms neighborhood of McLean (map) sold in January for $17.5 million. The home, listed with Mark Lowham of TTR Sotheby's International Realty, features a reception hall on the main level and a primary suite on the second floor that both run the width of the house. The lower level of the home includes a gathering room with a fireplace and wet bar, a game room and exercise room, and a sauna.
Outside, the home features a pool and tea house, rose gardens framed by stone walls, a koi pond, and an expansive lawn on the north side of the property.
A Bit Of A Mystery For $17.5 Million
An eight-bedroom home in the Woodland-Normanstone section of DC sold for $17.5 million right around the time of the $17.5 million sale above. But that's about all we know about the home, as it never went on the market and the transaction went through very quietly.
