Mill Creek Residential Trust, along with Trammell Crow Residential and JP Morgan, is redeveloping the surface parking lot at the Dunn Loring Metro into 628 residential units and 65,000 sq. ft. of retail including a 50K sq. ft. Harris Teeter. The developer reached an agreement with Metro to purchase the site in the spring of 2011. Mill Creek also is building 60,000 square feet of retail space on land retained by Metro that the developer will lease back for 60 years. Revenue WMATA (Metro) generates from the ground lease will go toward transit infrastructure improvements. Construction of the first phase of the project, a 250-unit apartment building, was started in September of 2011.
