Redbrick Development Group along with investment partners Wood Partners and CBRE Investors are developing a 290-unit apartment building with 10,000 sq. ft. of retail space at the former Groveton Elementary school on Rt. 1. Phase 2 of the development will include another 10,000 sq. ft. of retail with 50,000 sq. ft. of office space above. A structured parking garage will be wrapped by the residential development reaching a maximum of 6 stories in height. The site had gone unused since the early 1980s when the former owner tried to develop a similar plan, but were shot down by disapproving neighbors. The new design separates the office and residential building into two phases and the project is moving forward. The developer closed on the land at the end of 2010 and broke ground the garage and residential phase in March of 2011.
