What $469K Buys You in DC?

by Mark Wellborn

image

In this week’s installment of What X Buys You, we look at a two-bedroom row house in Shaw that is listed for $469,000. The home was gutted and renovated in 2000 and then updated with a number of green enhancements in 2006, including Energy Star appliances, On Demand water heater and no VOC paint. The home has a pretty large living area and a backyard that, if some work is put into it, would be a pretty good summer entertainment spot. More details and photos below.

Update: The property is under contract after six days on the market.

Decent price for the exposed brick and green features….but not amazing considering some of the recent problems on 1500 & 1600 blocks of Marion

What are “some of the recent problems on 1500 & 1600 blocks of Marion”?

Why do listing agents advertise no-VOC paint? Even if the paint applied in 2006 had a VOC content of 350 g/L, it would have off-gased by now.

Note to Eco-brokers: don’t greenwash. Most folks that are interested in purchasing a green home will see through the bullshit and be skeptical of other “green” claims.

Last I heard, there was a break-in and rape on the 1500 block of Marion St. last year. The stuff nightmares are made of.

I looked at this place - pretty nice reno, and materials were pretty solid. Not sure it’s worth the price on that block though…pass for me
