UrbanTurf Reader Asks: Where Can You Get the Most Out of $1,900 in Rent?: Figure 1

In this week’s installment of UrbanTurf Reader Asks, a reader who is moving out on his own inquires about where he can get the most bang for his $1,900 budget when it comes to renting in DC.

After living with a roommate for three years, I am taking the leap and moving out on my own. I can pay up to $1,900 a month in rent and am debating between getting a small one-bedroom in a more central location versus a two-bedroom or larger a little further out (I realize it may be way out), so that I can have space for a home office or perhaps rent out one of the rooms. I am open to living in most neighborhoods, and ride my bicycle everywhere, so don't need to be close to the Metro. I just started looking on Craigslist (which has become a hot mess since I last went rental hunting), so would love the UrbanTurf audience to weigh in on where they think I should look. Thanks!
