Under Contract: The Under $500,000 Edition
Under Contract this week is filled with homes that UrbanTurf has featured recently that were listed for under $500,000, and now have gone under contract or have sales pending on them.
Deal of the Week: The Garden-Level in Kalorama

This two-bedroom, two-bathroom condo in Kalorama was featured as a Deal of the Week on UrbanTurf a few weeks ago. We noted that lower-level units are not usually at the top of most buyer’s list during the housing search, but that these listings can be good options for those that want to live in prime neighborhoods, and can’t pay the going rate for most of what is on the market. This unit sits in a century-old row house off Connecticut Avenue on Kalorama Road, and the living room has a fireplace, bay windows and hardwood floors, there is a separate dining area, and the master bedroom has a number of large windows and French doors that lead to a balcony. It was priced competitively compared to other two-bedroom units in the neighborhood (where the median list price for condos is $570,000) and it has a sale pending on it in after just under three weeks on the market.
Address: 2023 Kalorama Road NW, #1 (map)
- Price: $440,000
- Bedrooms: Two
- Bathrooms: Two
- Square Footage: 900
- Days on Market: 20
1920s Three-Bedroom Bungalow in Takoma Park

This Takoma Park three-bedroom bungalow was constructed in the late 1920’s, but a second floor addition built in recent years expanded the home’s living space (see large master bedroom above). The house also has a front porch, an updated kitchen, a small office area, and there is a fenced-in yard in backyard as well as off-street parking. Featured as a Best New Listing about a month ago, it is now under contract after just over three weeks on the market.
Address: 125 Sherman Avenue, Takoma Park, MD (map)
- Price: $465,000
- Bedrooms: Three
- Bathrooms: Two
- Year Built: 1928
- Days on Market: 24

Lofty Two-Level One-Bedroom in Columbia Heights

Located on Harvard Street in a boutique condo project built four years ago, this one-bedroom is spread out over two levels, with the living room, kitchen and a half bath on the first level, and the bedroom and full bathroom on the second. The 700 square-foot condo has a number of windows, a good deal of closet space, and an in-unit washer/dryer. Featured as a Best New Listing about two weeks ago, it took about that same amount of time for it to go under contract.
Address: 1461 Harvard Street NW, #5 (map)
- Price: $389,000
- Bedrooms: One
- Bathrooms: 1.5
- Square Footage: 700
- Days on Market: 12
