In What X Buys You this week, UrbanTurf takes a look at how much studio $150,000 buys you these days in the DC area.

Short Sale Studio on the Southeastern Edge of Logan Circle

If location is at the top of the criteria list for a buyer out there interested in a studio, this unit a couple blocks to the southeast of Thomas Circle could be a good option. However, the sixth-floor studio is a short sale, needs some work to spruce it up, and only cash buyers and those with renovation loans are permitted to submit offers. All that said, it has a very convenient location, low condo fees ($194/month), and the building it is located in has bike storage, laundry, and allows pets.

Studio in New Building Near the Southwest Waterfront

This studio located near the Southwest Waterfront is the largest of the three featured today. The renovated unit has a newish kitchen with GE appliances, a good deal of closet space and gets natural light from a wall of windows. The building is FHA and VA-approved, and has amenities including a fitness center, a 24-hour concierge, an outdoor pool, convenience store and an entertainment lounge. Parking is not included with the unit, but is available for sale.

  • Full Listing: 800 4th Street SW, #S315 (map)
  • Price: $151,000
  • Bedrooms: 0
  • Bathrooms: One
  • Square Footage: 463

Remodeled Rosslyn Co-op With Garage Parking

This studio co-op not far from the Rosslyn Metro station is touted in the listing description as an “amazing investment opportunity with great rental income.” Given that the unit has been remodeled and comes with garage parking, that could prove to be true. However, it is also the smallest unit featured today at 383 square feet, but frankly at $149,900, it is tough to complain about the listing’s size.
