The Best New Listings in the DC Area: The Parking Edition
This week’s best new listings include a two-bedroom condo in the U Street Corridor with a Smart Car garage, a well-designed (and rare) two-bedroom condo in Petworth and a four-bedroom contemporary in Bethesda where the living room and master bedroom look very similar.
Two-Bedroom, Two-Bath Condo with Smart Car Garage in U Street Corridor

2131 10th Street NW, #2 (see map here)
The thing that you will not have to worry about with this two-level condo in the U Street Corridor is the amount of natural light it gets as there are windows in pretty much every room. The condo also has a large living area and a kitchen with a Sub-Zero refrigerator, wine cooler and a good deal of counter space. The master bedroom has floor-to-ceiling windows and custom closets, and while the garage is not huge, the information in the listing notes that it is large enough for a Smart Car. Two-Bedroom Condo (Yes, Condo) with Parking in Petworth

437 Manor Place NW, #2 (see map here)
While the description indicates that this two-bedroom condo is in Columbia Heights, we know that this address is more widely considered to be Petworth. Despite the location discrepancy, this is a beautifully designed unit that has a lot going for it. The living area offers a fair amount of couch and table space as well as exposed brick and the kitchen has an enormous counter/breakfast bar. The master bedroom, while not huge, features a wall of built-in closets and a perfect space for a large bed. The unit also has an outdoor patio and a parking space. For the full listing, click here.
Four-Bedroom Contemporary in Bethesda

5314 Sangamore Road, Bethesda, MD (see map here)
This four-bedroom contemporary home is set back among the trees off Massachusetts Avenue in Bethesda. Aside from the home’s retro design and the very spacious layout of most of the rooms (the property has about 2,600 interior square feet), the thing that we like best is that the living room and master bedroom look almost exactly the same, and the property’s chimney shoots up between the two rooms offering fireplaces in both. The hardwood floors in the home are completely redone and the carport outside the front door is not only convenient, but will likely bring back memories of another era. That “Petworth” condo is located in Park View. Definitely not Petworth.
I would say that most people would consider the “new” boundaries of Petworth to include that area south of the Metro, which would include where this condo lies. On another note, I like the layout of the U Street property, and how the stairs come down into the living room. Thankfully, they didn’t use a spiral staircase.
“New” boundaries of Petworth? That condo is not even in the same ward or zipcode as Petworth. It has a different ANC. Calling it Columbia Heights in more accurate than calling it Petworth.
That house is in Park View, definitely not Petworth. Petworth is east of Georgia Ave and north of Rock Creek Church Rd. - Manor Place is about 4 blocks from the neighborhood boundary.
