This week’s best new listings include a two-bedroom penthouse in a converted Victorian in Mount Pleasant, a spacious one-bedroom in a former schoolhouse in Capitol Hill and a four-bedroom colonial in Del Ray.

440 12th Street NE, #114 (see map here)

  • Price: $399,000
  • Bedrooms: One

  • Square Footage: 880
  • Price per SF: $453

This one-bedroom unit is located in the LoveJoy Lofts, a loft condo development in Capitol Hill that used to be a schoolhouse. The 880 square-foot unit has 12-foot ceilings and almost more windows than wall space. A parking space is included in the listing price, but the condo still has fairly low monthly condo fees. The corner unit is a very affordable property for a first-time home buyer that wants to be close to both Capitol Hill and the H Street Corridor. For the full listing, click here.

Four-Bedroom Colonial in Del Ray

The Best New Listings in the DC Area: Figure 3

211 Laverne Avenue, Alexandria, VA (see map here)

  • Price: $649,000
  • Bedrooms: Four
  • Bathrooms: Two
  • Square Footage (Lot): 6,000
  • Year Built: 1920

For its size and character, this may be one of the best homes that we have seen for the price in Del Ray in some time. The four-bedroom property has an enormous porch and backyard, and very charming rooms that have been well-maintained since the home was built in 1920. While the kitchen needs to be updated, it is just one of the very few drawbacks of this home that are outweighed by its numerous pluses. For the full listing, click here.
