NoVa Best New Listings: Falls Church, Ashton Heights, Old Town Village

by Sarah Godfrey

In this week’s edition of NoVa Best New Listings, we look at a bright two-bedroom home in the exotic wilds of Falls Church, a nook-filled 1920s bungalow in Arlington, and an Alexandria condo with a kitchen worthy of a home twice the size.

Two-Bedroom Townhouse Condo with Vaulted Ceilings in Falls Church

Northern Virginia is often used as shorthand for Alexandria and Arlington, leaving out the likes of Falls Church, Annandale, Vienna, Reston, and Tyson’s Corner. And this two-bedroom Falls Church condo might be of interest to someone who is looking for an escape from the high prices of Alexandria and Arlington, but is not quite ready to pack up and move to Stafford just yet. The listing, which has vaulted ceilings, a big, bright kitchen, and garage parking, is just four Metro stops from Clarendon, and just seven to downtown DC.

1920s Bungalow with Cozy Nooks in Arlington

This four-bedroom in the Ashton Heights section of Arlington is a pretty decent-sized home, but it has a cozy feel, thanks to a wood-burning fireplace, a front porch with a swing, and a couple of nice, tucked away nooks. A window bay in the living room is a good spot to place a couch, and the bright family room has a window seat tucked between large bookcases. The bedrooms are similarly filled with interesting angles and alcoves, a nice switch from the large, cold cubes that are typical of homes of this size.

Alexandria Two-Bedroom with Mansion-Worthy Kitchen

These days, one would be hard-pressed to find a real estate listing that doesn’t boast a “state-of-the-art kitchen” with “top-of-the-line appliances, granite counter tops, and custom cabinetry.” These kitchens are so common that they rarely stand out, and are usually trumped by other features. However, the kitchen in this Old Town condo is impressive mostly because…it’s in a two-bedroom condo. The stainless steel appliances, wine chiller, and cherrywood cabinetry worthy of a home library add up to a space one would expect in a 3,000 square-foot single family home, rather than a condo.
