Good For Families, Bad For Allergies: DC Is Making (A Lot) of Lists
It seems like a new list/set of rankings is put out almost daily that includes Washington, DC somewhere near the top or bottom. Case in point: Parenting Magazine recently named DC the best city in the country in which to raise a family.
As ridiculous and unscientific as these lists can be, we decided to take a look back at just the last few months to figure out what lists DC has been included on. We did not include rankings from government agencies or any lists related specifically to the DC real estate market (we have done that enough in the last year), but that didn’t make our list that much shorter.
- A study by Quest Diagnostics ranked DC as the 10th worst city in the country for allergies.
- The American College of Sports Medicine’s American Fitness Index ranked DC as the second fittest city in the country, following a three-year run at the top.
- DC has the least knowledgeable drivers in the country, according to GMAC Insurance.
- Despite dumb drivers and having some of the worst traffic congestion in the country, DC is the fifth least stressed city in the country, according to the Gallup-Healthways Well-Being Index.
- Trojan Condoms has deemed DC the most sexually active city in the country.
- DC ranks as one of the worst places for small businesses and entrepreneurs from a tax perspective, according to the Small Business & Entrepreneurship Council.
- High taxes aside, the DC area ranks in the top 10 best cities in the country for minority entrepreneurs, according to Forbes Magazine.
- One list that DC-area residents are probably happy that the city didn’t make, but might not entirely agree with, is The Daily Mail’s list of dirtiest cities in the U.S.
Did we miss one from the past few months? Let us know.
