Donald Rumsfeld's Kalorama House Finds Another Buyer
Donald Rumsfeld’s brick-red federal-style house in Kalorama found a buyer earlier this week, but it wasn’t the first time that the home went under contract this year.
In July, the home hit the open market for $4.495 million, and went under contract after ten days on the market. That contract appeared to fall through, though, as the home came back on the market in late October at the slightly reduced price of $4.295 million. On Tuesday, it went under contract again.
The house of the two-time defense secretary has seven bedrooms, 6.5 bathrooms, a swimming pool, and a conservatory-like “garden room.” As we noted when we first reported on the home being listed for sale, there are subtle clues to Rumsfeld’s ownership in the listing photos; one picture frame features a French World War I-era poster promoting the purchase of defense bonds.
