Deal of the Week: A Steal on Capitol Hill

by Mark Wellborn

image

Originally listed at $450,000, then dropped to $435,000, the price on this two-bedroom condo in Capitol Hill dropped another $20K yesterday, officially making it a legitimate Deal of the Week. The condo is part of a quaint nine-unit development about a block from the Eastern Market Metro. While the living room is small, the master bedroom is good-sized and the second bedroom would make for a good home office, den or TV room. We like this property for a couple that is in need of a little more space, but doesn’t want to pay the going rate for a two-bedroom in the city. More photos and info below. Definitely a good deal. I have had friends looking for a two-bedroom in Cap Hill, and most things start in the high 400s, low 500s. Living room is an odd shape, though.

Is the condo fee 228 included in the est taxes/fees?

Yes, the condo fee is included in the estimated taxes/fees.

This is a below grade unit which tends to be a toss up for many buyers. My suggestion is before considering a basement unit, especially in a 100 year old bldg that you speak with some people on the block.

They tend to be a bit more challenging on the resale side with price reductions, especially when you have comparable above grade units also on the market around the District.
