DC’s Best Open Houses: Capitol Hill and Kent

  • November 5, 2009

by Mark Wellborn

This weekend’s best open houses include a renovated three-bedroom row house near the Potomac Avenue Metro stop in Capitol Hill and a two-bedroom cottage on a hill overlooking the Virginia skyline in DC’s Kent neighborhood.

Renovated Three-Bedroom Near Potomac Avenue Metro in Capitol Hill

1507 E Street SE (see map here)

  • Price: $599,000
  • Bedrooms: Three
  • Bathrooms: Three
  • Square Footage: 1,340
  • Price per SF: $447

Located just a few blocks from the Potomac Avenue Metro stop, this three-bedroom row house in Capitol Hill has been renovated from top to bottom and at $599K is a fairly good price for a property of this size in the District. The kitchen is brand new on a main level that features the home’s original hardwood floors. The property also has a finished lower level with an additional bedroom and a nice back deck and patio. The open house is Sunday, November 8th from 2:00 to 4:00pm. For the full listing, click here.

Two-Bedroom Hilltop Cottage in Kent

5009 Weaver Terrace NW (see map here)

  • Price: $699,000
  • Bedrooms: Two
  • Bathrooms: Two
  • Year Built: 1926

It is not often that you find a home like this within the DC borders. This two-bedroom cottage sits on top of a hill looking out on the Virginia skyline in DC’s Kent neighborhood. There is a large screened porch that would be a perfect place to entertain during the summer. The home is being sold “as is” and the interior does need some work. That said, it has the feeling of a rustic beach home inside that will likely appeal to a certain buyer that doesn’t mind doing a little work. The open house is Sunday, November 8th from 1 to 4pm.
