Louis, Louis: JBG’s 14th and U Project to Start Construction Within a Week

by Shilpi Paul

Rendering of Louis

Construction on the JBG project at 14th and U Street NW now known as Louis (pronounced Louie), will commence within the coming week with deliveries expected in 2013.

Following a rather regal and mysterious social marketing campaign, JBG and partner Georgetown Strategic Capital held an official unveiling of Louis on Tuesday afternoon.

The long-awaited project, formerly referred to as “Utopia,” will consist of a 9-story structure with 267 apartments, 42,000 square feet of retail and commercial space and 148 parking spaces. JBG and Georgetown Strategic Capital are working with architect Eric Colbert & Associates and interior designer Cecconi Simone on the project.

The residential building will have a slew of high-end amenities once complete, including a rooftop pool and movie theater, a fitness center with yoga room and a 24-hour concierge. No word yet on what the asking rents will be.

Nice rendering. Looking forward to the addition to the neighborhood. Construction traffic is about to be a pain for a while though

Nice update.  Wonder if jbg is still planning to build a hotel at 13thdand U st.  We desperately need the hotel and better retail.  Tired of hiking to georgetown for quality retail and home furnishings.  Any update on retail plans for 2400 14th st nw? The contruction of this project seems to be progressing quite nicely.

    Mel,

No word on what will go in the retail portion at 2400 14th, but will stay on top of it.
