14th Street's Central Union Mission Condo Project to Begin Construction in June
Central Union Mission
The current occupants of the Central Union Mission at the southeast corner of 14th and R Streets NW will be moving in about a month, and construction on a 51-unit condo project slated for the address will start in early June, UrbanTurf has learned.
UrbanTurf reported last March that the development from Jeffrey Schonberger and architect extraordinaire Eric Colbert would be coming to the corner. Plans call for 1350 R Street NW, the main address for the Mission, to be updated, while the buildings at 1625 through 1629 14th Street NW will have additions built on top. The layout of each unit will vary, Colbert told UrbanTurf, from loft-y condos to two-story duplexes.
Construction is expected to take 12-14 months. The Mission will be moving to the Gales School at 65 Massachusetts Avenue NW.
