Best New Listings: The $1 Million Edition
Starting this week, we will be moving Best New Listings from Monday morning to Friday afternoon. In this week’s edition, we look at homes that recently hit the market for just above $1 million.
A Massive Dupont Circle Grand Dame With Potential

This row house on Riggs Place may need some renovations, but there is a lot of space to work with — five floors, four bedrooms, an unfinished basement and a loft space. The 3,150 square-foot listing has a main level with 10+-foot ceilings, three fireplaces and a dining room with pocket doors, a master suite that takes up the entire third floor and a fourth-floor loft with a skylight. There is also parking for two cars behind the home and an unfinished basement with laundry.
- Full listing: 1742 Riggs Place NW (map)
- Price: $1.1 million
- Bedrooms: Four
- Bathrooms: 2.5
- Year Built: 1890
- Listing Agent: David Getson, Coldwell Banker

Mount Pleasant Home with a Surprise in the Basement
The imposing stone facade of this Mount Pleasant Victorian looks out onto Monroe Street, just a couple blocks from Rock Creek Park. The 3,555 square-foot five-bedroom home has a finished attic, a couple porches, an in-law suite and an extra large oven. You can find bedrooms around every corner and the windows bring in plenty of light. While new owners may want to update certain aspects, like the bathrooms, they will have access to a rare treat: there’s a sauna in the basement.
- Full listing: 1806 Monroe Street NW (map)
- Price: $1.15 million
- Bedrooms: Five
- Bathrooms: 3.5
- Square Footage: 3,555
- Listing Agent: Fleur Howgill, TTR Sotheby’s International Realty

Capitol Hill Victorian With Beautiful Details
The coolest thing about this four-bedroom Capitol Hill row house is the detailed woodwork everywhere: the carvings above the door, antique-looking frames, inset carvings in the walls and intricate mantles throughout. The house has been renovated and has some modern amenities, like a steam shower and in-floor radiant heat in the kitchen. The basement is also finished and could be a rental unit or integrated into the rest of the house; regardless it may have the best living area in the home.
- Full listing: 415 Constitution Ave NE (map)
- Price: $1.1 million
- Bedrooms: Four
- Bathrooms: Four
- Year Built: 1890
- Listing Agent: Gary Jankowski, Coldwell Banker
