In advance of a Zoning Commission (ZC) hearing this month, Urban Investment Partners (UIP) has amended the design for a planned unit development (PUD) that would convert Tenleytown office buildings at 4620-4624 Wisconsin Avenue NW (map) into 146 apartments.

While the previous revision of the design for the project dubbed Broadcast was much more pronounced, architect Hickok Cole has now refined the materiality of the building to make the coloration lighter.

The façade of the building will include brick in French gray and buff colors, composite metal panels in gray and white, and transparent glazing. The rectangular contrast framing on the front of the building is composed of French walnut phenolic panels. The punched windows are framed in aluminum and the design also includes perforated metal guardrails and dark gray metal louvers.

Renderings have also been submitted for the signage of the building along the streetscape and the roof terrace, which has been altered slightly by adjustments made to the elevator shafts.

The PUD is slated to deliver 146 residential units (91 studios and junior one-bedrooms, 52 one-bedrooms with and without dens, and 3 two-bedrooms); 15 of the apartments will be set aside for households earning up to 60 percent of area median income. Three below-grade garage levels will deliver 58 vehicular and 60 bicycle parking spaces.

ZC is scheduled to consider the development on September 28th.
