In honor of Valentine’s Day, real estate website Trulia decided to give single men and women a few tips on the best places to find a mate. In a recent post, Trulia Trends examined major cities to find out where women outnumber men, and vice versa.

As many suspected, DC is a good place to be a single man (seeking a woman: Trulia subtracted estimates of gay and lesbian populations). In fact, the near-Maryland suburbs — Bethesda, Rockville and Frederick — have the highest ratio of women to men in the country with 120 women for every 100 men, closely followed by the DC metro area, with 112 women for every 100 men.

While interesting, UrbanTurf wanted to find out how the ratio broke down neighborhood-by-neighborhood. Chief Economist Jed Kolko took a closer look at some DC zip codes for us.

It turns out that several NW zip codes have a staggeringly high ratio of women living alone to men living alone. In 20016, the zip code that includes Palisades, Spring Valley, American University Park and Tenleytown, there are 176 women living alone for every 100 men living alone. In 20008, the zip code that starts in Kalorama and follows Connecticut Avenue to Forest Hills, containing Cleveland Park and Woodley Park, there are 168 women for every 100 men. The other zip codes at the top of the list are 20015 (Chevy Chase), 20007 (Georgetown) and 20036 (south Dupont Circle).

Very few zip codes have more single men than single women, but there are a couple; in 20004 — Penn Quarter — and 20006, south of Farragut, men barely edge out women, with ratios of 1.04 and 1.02, respectively.
